Namco jump starts Ridge Racer Accelerated with upcoming iPad release
HD version of iPhone racer includes several fixes
When Ridge Racer Accelerated HD hits iPad later this month, Namco Bandai Games is hoping for a warm reception.
After the near-disastrous iPhone and iPod touch release, this high-definition iPad port has a number of tweaks and fixes that aim to address the complaints that dogged its debut last year.
Reconfigured controls, new options, improved graphics, adjustments to the price of in-app purchases, and a slew of other changes accompany this iPad iteration.
Based on a quick hands-on with the game, however, it feels largely the same as the underwhelming iPhone and iPod touch version, albeit with bigger, bolder visuals. If anything, tilting to steer on iPad was less comfortable.
Still, there's clearly been improvements undertaken and until final review, our minds remain open to the possibility of a renewed racer.
Ridge Racer Accelerated HD will be available for iPad some time in February. No price has yet been announced.
